Covid-19 Update

Covid-19 Update

I want to convey these recent developments to all my patients, their families and friends which may be of interest during these trying times:

COVID-19 virus (SARS CoV2) testing: For anyone in the Chicago area who is interested in getting a test to determine whether you may be infected with the virus (note: this is an antigen test, not an antibody test to determine immune status) please go to the Midwest Express Clinic website to find the closest, most convenient location.

If you’ve had COVID-19 and fully recovered and wish to donate convalescent plasma which could help critically ill patients with the disease, please go to the American Red Cross website to learn if you are eligible and sign up.

For information regarding the current status of COVID-19 antibody testing, of critical importance to everyone in the days ahead, please look at this very informative, but slightly technical MedCram YouTube video. You may have to register to access the site, but the video is free.

If you’d like to help in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, please consider giving a donation to Rush University Medical Center, where 25% of all patients on ventilators in the state of Illinois are currently hospitalized. Please CLICK HERE to donate online.

My company, Synthonics Inc., is currently developing two drugs to potentially treat patients with life-threatening COVID-19 infections. One is a novel formulation of hydroxychloroquine, a drug some studies have shown to be efficacious against the virus, and the other is a novel formulation of cannabidiolic acid (CBDa) which may reduce the severe immune response associated with respiratory failure in these patients. We plan to submit these drugs to BARDA, a branch of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, for an expedited evaluation of their potential therapeutic value. CLICK HERE for more information.
